Triple Unders
Triple unders are a type of multiple under where the rope passes under or by the jumper’s feet three times in one jump. One of the most famous triple under skills in jump rope culture is the TJ, named after …. who popularised the skill in the 80s little to his knowledge that it would go to become on the staple rites of passage for most freestyle jumpers as they advance.
Coach Chris’s Top Tips
✅ Keep your chest up and eyes fixed on the horizon
✅ Keep your hands tight to your body so the rope’s arc is narrow
✅ Drive down with your hands as your turn the rope three times
‼️ Avoid hinging at your hips like a ‘dolphin kick’
‼️ Avoid slamming your feet into the ground in between jumps

Is it still a triple under if the first ‘under’ is a Swing?
Yes. In any multiple under, we count the number of times the rope passes by or under the jumper’s feet. So, Swing Open is a double, Open Swing Cross is a triple, and Swing Cross Swing EB is a quad. It’s important to note that the jumper must have jumped during the bottom portion of the Swing for this to count - if the majority of the swing happens whilst your feet are firmly on the floor then this won’t count.
