MY STORY
Hey there! I’m Coach Chris, a personal trainer and jump rope coach who’s trying to bring jump rope to schools and gyms across the UK.
“Jump rope changed my life”
Ever since I was young I struggled to find a sport that I belonged in. I tried football, rugby, running, skate-boarding, tennis, swimming to name but a few... I didn’t fit in. Not only that, when I became old enough to join my first gym I was bombarded with the world of bodybuilding and images of how I should look.
None of this was healthy for my mind or body.
I picked up my first jump rope when I was 20 and it has changed my life from that moment. How?
My physical fitness excelled including endurance, power output and core strength
My mental health improved including my body-image, stress management and confidence
My coordination improved such as my balance, body awareness and rhythm
My confidence blossomed as I found the online community of jumpers who have become my second family
2016-2018
After falling in love with jump rope over the next few years I decided to study in my spare time whilst working full time to become a Personal Trainer and help others benefit from jump rope in the ways I did. I completed a Level 3 diploma by FutureFit Training to become a REPs acredited Personal Trainer.
Not long after qualifying, I gained the unique opportunity to spend time out in Los Angeles and San Diego with professional jump rope coaches and world champions. This ultimately lead to me becoming the first - and currently only - certified freestyle jump rope coach in the UK via RX Smart Gear. I have also earned an honorary certification from Punk Rope.
2019-2020
During the pandemic I was furloughed from my day job, so I dedicated all my time and energy into growing the online jump rope community whilst everyone jumped in their back gardens.
In the first year of the pandemic, I raised over £2,000 for a local hospital through my Jump for the NHS campaign. Later the same year I was approached by The Daily Telegraph to speak about jump rope and how people were picking up a rope during lockdown.
2021-2022
During the pandemic I focused on developing the highest quality beaded ropes on the market. I began offering the industry’s first lifetime guarantee on the handles and invested into local manufacturing to reduce the carbon footprint. I went even further to innovate the design by introducing the world’s first thickened cord beaded rope, which is now my flag ship product - available in white and black - another industry first! And the community loved it. My thickened cord beaded ropes quickly became the preferred choice for beginners and advanced jumpers alike.
I took the final leap of faith and quit my day job on February 21st 2021. Thanks for the support of the online community, things continued to grow until eventually I moved into my first office where now my dedicated growing team of employees help me build ropes and manage customer orders. I continued to grow the operation and began working with official distributors in four continents from Canada to Australia to offer high quality and affordable jump ropes worldwide.
“I want the UK to jump rope”
As lockdowns have eased and things began to slowly return to some version of normal in the UK, I resumed my mission to get the UK to jump rope. I now host regular meet ups across the UK and attend motivational talks & workshops at schools to educate children on the benefits of jump rope.
My mission is to bring jump rope and its benefits to as many people as I can.
I truly believe in the benefits jump rope has to offer because I have seen these same benefits firsthand in not only myself but thousands of others. Simply put, I want the UK to jump rope.
So why choose me?
There are three reasons why you should choose me to help you discover the benefits of jump rope:
I’m uniquely qualified thanks to my background training and the opportunities I created.
I understand the difficulties that so many have, with trying to fit into a sport, keeping fit and destressing.
Autism is my superpower. Because I’m autistic, I see the world with a unique point of view. This helps me break down skills and teach coordination-based movements with a unique approach.
